Specialist Registrar in Fetal and Paediatric Cardiology

An opportunity for a 1 Year, full time, training post in Fetal Cardiology has arisen at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.
Start date 3^rd December 2025
The successful candidate will have the opportunity for training and experience in all aspects of Fetal Cardiology. The postholder will be expected to participate in a wide range Fetal Cardiology activities including GOSH Fetal Cardiology outpatient clinics and meetings, Fetal Cardiology outreach clinics and teaching and training.The timetable will be approximately 70% fetal cardiology and 30% paediatric cardiology. The post holder will also join the cardiology registrar on call rota.
Candidates must be registered with the GMC at the time of application. Priority for appointment would be given to a trainee with a UK National Training Number (NTN)
Main duties of the job
The fetal cardiac service provides a tertiary referral service for the diagnosis, counselling and management of prenatal cardiac disease. The service provides aninterface between the paediatric cardiothoracic services at Great Ormond Street Hospital and obstetric and maternal health units throughout London and southern England.
The service dovetails with the neonatal cardiac surgical and paediatric cardiac programmes at Great Ormond Street Hospital. We are the main providers of this service for the North Thames, but serve a much wider population base including East of England.
This role is accredited for those holding a National Training Number for Paediatric cardiology in the UK and will be offered to suitable applicants holding an NTN as a priority.

Academic/Professional qualification/Training
Essential criteria- Primary medical qualification - MBBS or equivalent
- Full GMC registration (obtained by designated start date)
- MRCP, MRCPCH or equivalent
- Higher degree – MSc, MPhil related discipline
Experience/Knowledge
Essential criteria- At least 2 years’ experience in paediatrics
- 6 months paediatric or adult cardiology
- Experience of audit activities
- Understanding of principles of clinical governance
- Experience of teaching and presenting
- Experience of echocardiography (paediatric or adult)
- Published research in peer reviewed journals
- Clinical experience in related paediatric specialties
Skills/Abilities
