Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Physical Education to lead their PE department. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive PE curriculum, fostering a culture of physical fitness and wellbeing, and inspiring students to achieve their full potential both academically and athletically.

Key Responsibilities:

 •  Lead and manage the PE department, providing direction, support, and mentorship to staff.
 •  Develop and implement a challenging and engaging PE curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
 •  Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and supported.
 •  Organise and oversee extracurricular sports activities, competitions, and events.
 •  Monitor student progress and provide feedback to facilitate continuous improvement.
 •  Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to integrate physical activity into the broader school community.
 •  Stay abreast of developments in PE pedagogy and incorporate best practices into teaching and learning.
 •  Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and safeguarding policies at all times.

Qualifications and Experience:

 •  Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
 •  A degree in Physical Education or a related field.
 •  Proven experience teaching PE at the secondary level, with a track record of raising achievement.
 •  Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
 •  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
 •  Up-to-date knowledge of curriculum developments and assessment strategies in PE.
 •  Experience in managing budgets and resources effectively.
