Job Title: Engineering Planner
Location: Dumfriesshire

Hours: Monday to Friday (07:30 - 15:30)

Talento is seeking a dynamic Engineering Planner to join our client who is a leading manufacturer in Dumfries. As an Engineering Planner, you will play a crucial role in optimising production efficiency by meticulously planning for forecasted downtime and repairs.

Responsibilities:

Risk Assessment: Conducting thorough risk assessments for planned maintenance activities to anticipate and mitigate potential challenges, ensuring minimal impact on production schedules.
Collaboration: Collaborating closely with maintenance teams, production managers, and other relevant departments to gather insights and input for creating comprehensive and feasible maintenance plans.
Resource Allocation: Efficiently allocating manpower, materials, and equipment to support maintenance activities, balancing the need for minimal downtime with cost-effectiveness.
Documentation: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance activities, including schedules, downtime reports, and resource usage, to facilitate future planning and analysis.
Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities for process improvements in maintenance planning and execution, implementing best practices, and contributing to the overall enhancement of operational efficiency.
Emergency Response Planning: Developing contingency plans and protocols to address unforeseen maintenance issues or equipment failures, ensuring a rapid and effective response to minimize disruptions.
Budget Management: Assisting in the development and management of budgets related to maintenance activities, ensuring cost-effectiveness while maintaining high standards of equipment reliability.

Qualifications and requirements:

A suitable engineering qualification (e.g. HNC).
Previous experience of planning, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance activities.
An understanding and working knowledge of computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Good IT skills (Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project).
Knowledge of safety standards and regulations for chemical and machinery manufacturing plant equipment.
An understanding of modern maintenance processes and techniques.
Ability to work and communicate in a team, and to interface effectively with a broad section of personnel both internal and external to the company.
Ability to organise and lead a team to complete planned maintenance activities.
Adaptable and flexible to support on site outside of normal working hours when required.
