Learning Support Assistant
Job Title: Full-Time Learning Support Assistant (1:1 SEN Support)
Location: South Liverpool

We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
Job Description: As a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) working on a 1:1 basis with an SEN pupil, you will have a unique opportunity to make a positive difference in the life of a child. You will provide tailored support and encouragement to help the pupil overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and reach their academic and personal goals.
Responsibilities:
• Work closely with the SENCo and class teacher to understand the individual needs and requirements of the pupil you will be supporting.
• Provide 1:1 support to the pupil with SEN, implementing personalised learning strategies and interventions to facilitate their progress and engagement in learning.
• Adapt and differentiate learning materials and activities to meet the specific learning styles and abilities of the pupil.
• Foster a positive and supportive relationship with the pupil, promoting their independence, self-esteem, and emotional well-being.
• Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans, monitoring progress and providing feedback to the SENCo and class teacher.
• Collaborate with colleagues and external professionals (e.g., speech and language therapists, educational psychologists) to ensure a coordinated approach to support and inclusion.
• Maintain accurate records of the pupil's progress, achievements, and any concerns, in accordance with school policies and procedures.
Requirements:
• Previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant, preferably in a SEN setting.
• Understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and experience supporting children with a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, and specific learning difficulties.
• Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to working with children with SEN, with the ability to build positive relationships and establish trust.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with colleagues, parents/guardians, and external professionals.
• Ability to use initiative and work independently, as well as collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Relevant qualifications or training in supporting children with SEN would be advantageous but not essential.
• Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to undertake a new one.
