Finance Officer

A Healthcare Charity in East London are seeking a Finance Officer on a permanent basis. The Finance Officer is a key support role for Finance & Operations and the wider organisation, responsible for dealing in a timely and effective way with bookkeeping, finance, payroll and general financial administration.

This is a hybrid role.

Main Duties -
 •  Manage the Purchase Ledger for the organisation in accordance with the procedures outlined in 2 the Finance Manual and Handbook.
 •  Process purchase invoices on the accounting system and arrange for the payment of appropriately authorized invoices.
 •  Administer all staff, volunteer and trustee expenses.
 •  Assist the Finance manager with the month the end process.
 •  Conduct bank reconciliations for the Trust and Trading companies.
 •  Update the Fixed asset registers.
 •  Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and getting sign off from the Finance Manager.
 •  Preparation of quarterly VAT returns.
 •  Work with HR and the outsourced payroll provider to ensure that both weekly and monthly payroll is processed and administered accurately and on time.
 •  Bank reconciliation of money received to ensure the amounts and coding on the accounts system agree with those on the Fundraising database/ bank iv.
 •  Assist the Finance Manager with preparation of ad hock reports for the various managers.

Experience -
 •  Previous book-keeping and payroll administration experience.
 •  Knowledge of control account reconciliation.
 •  Experience of preparing accounts to trial balance.
 •  Understanding of the importance of sound financial controls embedded into the transactional processing activities within Finance.
 •  Excellent numeracy.
 •  Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
 •  Good working knowledge of other Microsoft Office packages.
 •  Strong written and verbal communication skills.
 •  Experience of finance in the charity or not-for-profit sector is an advantage.
 •  Knowledge of charity SORP accounting is desirable.
 •  Knowledge of Business Central and Raiser's Edge is an advantage
