We are recruiting for an experienced Finance Assistant to join a leading practice in Colchester on a hybrid basis (2-3 days in the office, some flexibility to working hours).
You will be working in a consultancy company that is driven by quality of service and high standards for details. From day one, you will receive full support, training, and coaching from an existing supportive team.
The role will be responsible for maintaining an efficient and accurate accounting function with particular emphasis on providing Payroll services and the maintaining the AP function.
Key duties include:
• Process monthly payroll of 270 staff and all activities that come with this.
• Be comfortable with Sage 50 accounts & Payroll.
• Own the accounts’ payable function including managing payment of outstanding debts, contacting suppliers for information, and maintaining records of all communications.
• Resolve supplier queries in an efficient manner to minimise short/late payments.
• Be proactive in reducing aged balances and finding solutions to resolve non-payment issues.
• Provide support for other areas within the finance team, which may include analysing and processing of credit card payments for all offices, providing analysis of overhead expenditure to office managers and other budget holders, setting up new staff members.
• Provide cover for posting receipts and bank reconciliations during holiday periods.
Essential skills, experience, and attributes…
• Familiar with Sage 50 accounts & payroll
• Proficient in MS office – Excel, Word & Outlook.
• Three years’ relevant work experience.
• Manager database experience. Advantageous, but not essential.
