Victim Support has been commissioned to provide a new, bespoke service in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire which will provide support to those affected by a recent high profile police incident including fraud and other crime types. Some of the individuals and families affected may also need support with the impact of different trauma responses.

The service has been initially funded for 12 months and the roles will be fixed term to reflect this.

About the role:

As a Caseworker within this service, you will;
 •  Support people who are likely to be impacted by the effects of bereavement as well as being victims of crime
 •  Make calls to people referred to the service primarily by the police and our dedicated support line
 •  Assess their needs and any risks and agree a support plan
 •  Make regular contact with the individuals either by phone, video call or face to face as agreed with them
 •  Record actions and information on our case management system
 •  Be able to talk to them about the Victims' Code of Practice and the Criminal Justice System
 •  Liaise with the police and other statutory and voluntary sector agencies where required

There may also be a requirement to;
 •  Attend multi-agency or other meetings with, or on behalf of, service users
 •  Provide support through court and other criminal justice processes
 •  Signpost or refer to other agencies including mental health and bereavement services

Dependent on the needs of the service users and the changing face of investigations, there will be a requirement to travel to support service users and attend meetings and other events across Humberside.

The successful Caseworker will be someone with empathy, compassion and a professional outlook who can work in difficult and emotive situations.

Due to the nature of the role, clinical supervision will be offered to all Caseworkers.
