Metrology Technician

Abingdon | Permanent | www.cv-library.co.uk |
Metrology Technician

Alloyed is a young venture-funded company of around 100 world-class metallurgists, mechanical engineers, technicians, and software developers working across three offices in the UK and one in the US, building the future of advanced metal components.
We use proprietary software packages which combine advanced machine learning and physical modelling, as well as extensive experimental facilities, to 3D print metal components better and faster than anyone else.

At our premises in Yarnton and Abingdon, near Oxford, we are aiming to build the world’s fastest, smartest, and bestequipped facility for the rapid development of additively manufactured parts for the electronics, aerospace and industrial sectors, and novel metal alloys for better performance.

The Metrology Technician Role

Alloyed is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Metrology Operator to join our organisation. As a Metrology Operator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of our manufacturing processes and products through precise measurement, calibration, and inspection procedures.
Your expertise in metrology and meticulous attention to detail will contribute to maintaining our high standards of excellence and compliance with industry standards.

You will be part of the metrology team and will work closely with the engineering and operations teams, reporting directly to the Head of Operations in Abingdon where the role will be based. Training will be provided where required.

Metrology Technician Responsibilities
 •  Operating a wide range of metrology tools and equipment, including GOM blue light scanners and CMM, to assess the accuracy and quality of components, parts, and finished products.
 •  Identify and report any non-conformities, deviations, or discrepancies, and work closely with the inspection and quality control teams to address and resolve them effectively.
 •  Maintain accurate and detailed records of measurement data, inspection results, and calibration activities using appropriate documentation methods and software systems.
 •  Ensure that metrology equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and operated in accordance with standard procedures.
 •  Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement process improvements, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Essential
 •  2 to 3 years’ experience working in engineering and/or manufacturing
 •  Strong interest in measurement/metrology
 •  Organised and able to work independently, but also to collaborate with a diverse, fast-moving team
 •  Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
 •  Hands-on attitude and willingness to learn new skills
 •  High level of attention to detail
Desirable
 •  Understanding detailed engineering drawings
 •  Experience with metal additive manufacturing
 •  Willingness to work flexible hours or morning/afternoon shifts if needed
