There is an exciting opportunity to join the Renal, Respiratory, Cardiothoracic and Vascular (RRCV)Clinical Management Group as the Service Manager for Cardiology.

As a Service Manager you will be a core part of the Cardiology service within the Renal, Respiratory, Cardiothoracic and Vascular (RRCV) Management Team to facilitate achievement of operational key performance indicators and improve quality of care within the Cardiology specialty.

Working closely with the General Manager, Head of Service and Matrons, the role is responsible for the planning and delivery of services within Cardiology which includes Inpatient and Outpatient services.

As a leader within Cardiology, you will be responsible for promoting the vision and values of University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, leading by example, ensuring demonstration of those values in leadership behaviours and how to support the team in delivering outstanding patient care and excellent services.

The successful applicant will have management experience within the NHS and track record of operational achievement and service improvement.

You will be working in a senior operating structure, with the requirement to be visible and accessible across the Specialty and within the Clinical Management Group. You will work with the General Manager, Head of Service and Matrons as part of the Cardiology Leadership Team to deliver the comprehensive recovery and improvement plans across the service.
You will lead on transformation and operational delivery and play a key role across many workstreams within Cardiology.

The Service Manager roles offers you the chance to put your skills and experience to good use in one of the country’s biggest and busiest teaching hospitals.

Applicants for this role will need to have demonstrable experience of monitoring and managing healthcare targets, a team of other staff and also budgets at a basic level. It will also be essential that they understand health service provision and ideally have detailed knowledge of one or more services.

You will be responsible for the delivery of the Trusts Strategic Objectives within the Cardiology specialty, thereby realising the expected benefits of transformation, standardisation of high quality care, clinical service planning, making best use of our resources, planning and supporting our workforce, working with internal and external partners while promoting research and innovation.

Key Responsibilities include:
 •  Support the General Manager and thereby the Deputy Head of Operations (DHoOps), to operationally manage the Cardiology service.
 •  Develop robust management of capacity, waiting lists, reporting and efficiency
 •  Support and manage the operational aspects of the service encompassing the management of all resources and the monitoring and achievement of agreed performance objectives including budget management, delivery of service developments and cost improvements
 •  In conjunction with the General Manager, Heads of Service, Matrons and Service Management colleagues and in support of the DHoOps and CMG Team to consider, plan and implement change to ensure continuous service and efficiency improvements to enhance the patient care services
 •  Develop robust management of capacity, waiting lists, reporting and efficiency
 •  Line management responsibility within the service's workforce structure as required
 •  Participation in a Manager of the Day Rota
