Cutting Machine Operator

Our client have been established for over 40 years, and are a nationwide supplier of performance textile and other fabric products. They employ around 70 people in all roles and have bases in Derbyshire and Buckinghamshire. The company has a number of divisions each focused on key product ranges including, Bags & Covers, Flags & Flagpoles, Printed Textiles, Medical and Scientific products.
Responsibilities:
To provide support and assistance to areas of the business that require production and organisational tasks to be completed as part of the wider manufacturing and organisational operations.
Ensure that skilled staff are provided with the resources and materials that are needed to undertake their tasks, moving materials and supplies to and from the point of need as well as assisting in the general site organisation and tidiness.
Staff at all levels in their business are responsible for, and contribute towards, the quality and success of their business. By providing support to their skilled staff Cutting Machine Operators are a link in the chain between their products and their customers which is important to the overall success of the company.
You will join a dedicated team and be fully involved in all aspects of providing support to our production teams.
Requirements
• Measuring and assembling goods in the factory or warehouse
• Mentoring and training of new or existing employees on becoming a Cutting Machine Operator
• Operate the Zund Machine.
• To carry out daily maintenance on the Zund.
• Storing goods and raw materials in the factory or warehouse
• Preparing materials for use by other production staff
• Moving materials / finished goods to the appropriate location.
• Using lifting equipment and forklift trucks (where training has been given)
• Cleaning and maintaining machinery
• Maintain the working areas of the Production facility ensuring they are clean, tidy and organised fashion and that Health and Safety guidelines are adhered to.
• Any other tasks as reasonably requested by the Directors or other senior managers.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Salary is based on experience, however training will be provided so direct experience isn't essential.
• You will have the ability to understand and react to instructions and requirements of the division General Managers in relation to basic operational tasks.
• You will require basic numeracy and literacy and communication skills.
• You will be able to demonstrate previous relevant experience or show that you are capable of learning from supervisory staff how to undertake the required tasks.
• You will be prepared to regularly change the tasks you are required to do and have a highly flexible approach to working with others.
• You will be highly competent using a computer and full software packages.
Work Environment:
You will work within their modern production facilities at their Chesterfield premises. You will work under one division of the business at a given time, but this may be changed by the line managers to suit operational requirements and production demand.
