SMART Education are looking for a committed and experienced Tutor with a real passion to support vulnerable, at risk and disengaged learners with their core-subjects! We offer our Tutors highly rewarding assignments, whilst providing flexibility and professional support to ensure your success.
You will be offered the opportunity to build a meaningful relationship with children and young people with a variety of learning needs through tutoring in a creative, flexible and engaging manner.
Home tuition involves yourself working in a home setting; this may be the family home or a residential setting for LAC. You will be working 1:1 with students from various backgrounds and differentiating needs, therefore it is vital that you are confident in your ability to differentiate and deliver 1:1 tuition lessons to meet the YP’s needs.
Students ages can range from key stage 1 to further education; however, you will be placed with a student in the key stage that you feel most confident and experienced in teaching.
You will be required to:
Create a calm and positive learning environment
Build a strong rapport with both the YP and their families
Planning lesson plans and activities for the tutoring sessions to ensure the curriculum is covered sufficiently
Supporting a child with achieving their personal goals
Complete a home tuition report after sessions that outlines progress of the student
Supporting the YP’s re-engagement in education
A QTS and experience as a tutor is essential
Person Specification:
A creative and versatile teaching style Professional Teaching Qualifications (QTS / QTLS / PGCE), Subject Specialism or extensive tuition experience supporting with English, Maths and/or Science
Experience, Knowledge and Understanding of working with children/young people with additional learning needs (SEN/SEMH)
Experience, Knowledge and Understanding of working with disengaged young people or looked after children
An enhanced DBS on the update service or the willingness to acquire one
Experience, Knowledge and Understanding of Safeguarding practices
