JOB DESCRIPTION
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am an elderly lady living in Barry. I try to lead an active lifestyle; The activities I enjoy are, singing, walking, going to the theatre and the cinema. I enjoy eating out for lunch and looking in the shops. I can get tired so there are days where I am happy looking at my photographs and cards that I have collected over the years.
I love looking at art books and flower arranging. I have a hearing impairment and have mid- late Alzheimer’s. During the middle stage of Alzheimer’s, the dementia symptoms are more pronounced. Sometimes I can demonstrate some behavioural changes, including suspiciousness especially with people I do not know.
I can also experience confusion about where I am or what day it is. My daughter is very supportive and will be with me when you first start to help me get used to someone new.
Once a relationship has been formed, I can be quite outgoing, chatty and enjoy socialising out in the local community.
PURPOSE OF JOB
The purpose of this job is to support me at home to do the things I like doing and to help me maintain my independence for as long as possible. Companionship and provide respite for my daughter.
PLACE OF WORK
At my home address and in the local community.
HOURS OF WORK
Monday – 10am to 2pm
Wednesday- 9:00am to 18:30
Thursday, Friday, Saturday – 18:30 to 21:00
Totalling to 21 hours per week
We are open to discussions if you can work any hours, please still apply
The day shifts can be split between 2 people if required.
Evening shifts are mainly to keep me company and to make sure I have everything I need to allow me to sleep well. Some light domestic work to help keep my house organised.
RATE OF PAY
£12.30 per hour
TASKS INVOLVED
• Meal preparation
• Occasional domestic duties
• Some personal care is required like brushing teeth
• Keeping me company
• Ensuring I am safe
• Keeping me calm
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
• Active
• Likes sports
• Chatty /outgoing
• Young at heart
• Someone who enjoys teaching in a forward thinking way
• Physically Fit
• Patient and understanding
• Experience of Alzheimer’s work or personal
• Has own vehicle with business class insurance
• Good sense of humour
• Someone who is full of energy
• Someone who can think outside the box and can think about holistic approaches and natural therapies.
ABOUT THE JOB
Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four weekly and appropriate holiday pay given. The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence.
The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK
