Floating Support Officer

Central is currently recruiting for a Floating Support Officer, to work in the Kingston area. The service provides floating support to clients with low to medium mental health needs living in Supported Living Accommodation or their own homes for up to two years.

The successful candidate will be required to work 3
 •  4 days per week (up to 28 hours), between Monday
 •  Friday, 9AM
 •  5PM. There is flexibility regarding some hybrid working from home.

Temporary cover is required for approximately 1 month, with the possibility of extension.
The pay rate for this role is £15.16 per hour, with £2.20 holiday pay, totalling £17.36 per hour.

Please note: you will be supporting clients within the borough of Kingston in their own homes, in shared accommodation and at the organisations residential property.

In this position, you will be required to:

 •  Hold a caseload of 12 key clients and conduct regular key working sessions resulting in agreed Support Plans which have clearly identified goals
 •  Complete comprehensive risk and needs assessments
 •  Support clients to move on to appropriate accommodation and live independently in the local community
 •  Support clients with their mental health needs and ensure they have access to relevant services
 •  Ensure that clients maximise their potential in terms of work or studies, social connections, family and other relationships and their financial independence
 •  Support the referrals of new clients, and liaise with the CMHT, Mental Health Social Workers and other key support workers to ensure clients are appropriately assessed, inducted and supported
 •  Liaise, where appropriate with the landlord and/or housing management services to ensure that any issues are reported and any potential conflict with other tenants or neighbours is minimised
 •  Support clients to apply for housing benefit where appropriate, ensure that rent is paid on a regular basis and to manage and reduce arrears.
 •  Ensure the property complies with Health and Safety and other regulations, including fire safety and fire drills, and electrical and other equipment
 •  Support the internal maintenance for the property, including cleaning, decoration and providing basic furniture for the rooms
 •  Keep appropriate records of Health & Safety inspections, certificates, reports and correspondence, and any other records relating to the management of the property

To apply for this role, you must have:

 •  Experience working with people with a range of mental health issues in a housing or residential service
 •  Knowledge and understanding of mental health services, particularly in terms of mental health pathways within the local Mental Health Trust and Adult Social Care.
 •  Knowledge of welfare benefits, universal credits and disability/mental health rights and support
 •  Knowledge of housing and property management
 •  Knowledge of the local voluntary sector and its relation to statutory services
 •  Excellent communications skills and ability to deal with a range of people, services and contractors
 •  Ability to collect data, feedback, evaluation and statistical information and compile meaningful reports
 •  Experience of financial administration
 •  Experience of using CRM or database
 •  Positive attitude to mental health, and keen to reduce stigma and discrimination in mental health.

Further requirements:

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:

 •  Current valid right to work in the UK
 •  Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
 •  A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £50)
 •  Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
