The Company
My client is a leading design and fit-out companies with an extensive portfolio of blue chip clients across the UK. Specialising in design, refurbishment, fit-out, design & build and relocation management they work alongside facilities departments, developers, building surveyors and commercial property agents to set industry standards in design, restructuring and refurbishment of projects in the commercial office, student accommodation and hotel sectors.
The Estimator Role:
Reporting to the Pre-Construction Director you will work within a team of in-house Estimators, of different levels of experience. You will be expected to take a hands on approach to day to day estimating and tendering processes as outlined below.
Duties and Responsibilities will include:
• Providing competitive estimates for construction related fit-out and refurbishment sectors across many different sectors.
• Using internal estimating and take-off systems to accurately cost project/enquiry
• Calculating preliminary costs, in conjunction with Account Managers and Delivery Teams
• Developing client relationships to enhance opportunities to tender, negotiate and enhance tender margins
• Liaising with the Client and Design Team during the tender process
• Producing sub-contract and material enquires for bespoke joinery
• Answering sub-contractor and supplier queries and appraising quotations
• Checking tender documents, making amendments where required
• Abstracting information into subcontract and material packages
• Identifying scope for design alternatives and value engineering
• Attending site surveys when required
• Attending adjudication meeting and present full tender to Estimating Manager, ensuring all risks are highlighted
• Attend post tender negotiations with clients
The Successful Estimator must have:
• General construction estimating experience, either in a main or subcontractor environment.
• Confidence in taking enquires from clients, pricing, presenting quotes for internal adjudication and submitting professionally to the client teams
• A good understanding of the manufacturing process
