Production Manager - Stroud
Purpose of the role
To plan, coordinate and control the resources of people, materials and equipment employed within the Machine Shop & Production Engineering departments to ensure that products are produced efficiently; that they are of the right quality, quantity, and cost; and that they are produced on time.
Leading and guiding the Production Engineering team and Machining team to identify methods of manufacture which deliver continuous improvement and efficiencies.
Summary of duties:
• Take responsibility for themselves and members of the teams to ensure work is carried out safely and in line with the company’s Health and Safety policies and procedures.
• Provide guidance and support to the Machine Shop Team Leaders, Chargehands and team members, promoting good engineering standards, safe working practices, continuous improvement activities, effective use of resources and the personal development of the staff employed within the manufacturing process necessary to achieve the company’s performance targets.
• Provide guidance and support to the Senior Production Engineer and his team by being involved in discussion on all new manufacturing requirements, to establish correct method of manufacture, tooling, fixture, cycle time and cost. Ensuring that set up documents and CNC programs are being used by the shopfloor and where changes are necessary information is feedback.
• Performance management of immediate direct reports (supervisory team) including holding Employee Review Meetings with each member of the team.
• Continually review training needs and personal development of employees and ensure the ‘skill set’ of the staff employed are adequate to meet the business needs of the company, including maintaining training records and the skills matrix. (Encourage flexibility and skills to move between different machines)
Candidate requirements:
• Full indentured apprenticeship at either Craft or Technician Level.
• Experience of managing CNC machine shop for high strength grade materials with horizontal milling, turning, VMCs, spark and wire cut process.
• Considerable experience in all aspects of workshop practise.
• Experience in all aspects of Production management i.e. - Materials Management, Inventory Control, Production Control, and Purchasing Management.
• Experience of supervising and managing a large team of employees
• Ability to prepare and present reports to Senior Management.
• Good numerical and literacy skills
• Proficient in the use of MS Office applications, email and internet
Pay & Benefits
