Health & Safety Manager

We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join our team at the Head Office in Maldon, Essex. The successful candidate will support 20 operational business locations and report directly to the Chairman. This role involves maintaining, administrating, and reviewing the company’s Health & Safety Policies, ensuring adherence to current legislation and promoting best practices across the company.

Day-to-day of the role:

 •  Build strong, collaborative relationships across all areas of the business.
 •  Engage inclusively to drive health and safety systems forward.
 •  Reinforce safety policies, guidelines, and procedures as set out by the company.
 •  Coordinate and manage emergency arrangements, including fire and first aid, to ensure control and compliance.
 •  Develop and deliver training and Toolbox Talks to foster a positive health and safety culture.
 •  Provide daily guidance on Safety, Health, and Environmental programs to ensure a common and effective approach.
 •  Conduct 3 H&S inspections and 1 full audit of all locations annually.
 •  Investigate accidents, notify authorities when required, and inform HR of potential misconduct issues or repeat incidents.
 •  Be resilient, pragmatic, and confident in decision-making.
 •  Identify and recommend business improvements.
 •  Take ownership of continued professional development and stay updated with changes in regulations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

 •  Diploma Level H&S qualification is desired.
 •  Knowledge of the Agricultural industry is advantageous.
 •  Experience in driving a positive Health and Safety culture within complex organisations.
 •  Competent IT skills, including Word, Excel, and Web applications.
 •  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
 •  Team player with the ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
 •  Full driving license.
