Science Technician

Tradewind Recruitment are actively seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Technician to join a vibrant secondary school in the Maidstone area. As a vital member of the Science Department, you will play a key role in supporting teachers and students in their practical laboratory work.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Preparation of Materials: Prepare and set up equipment and materials for science experiments and demonstrations according to curriculum requirements.
• Maintenance of Equipment: Ensure all laboratory equipment is well-maintained, calibrated, and safe for use by students and staff.
• Health and Safety: Implement and uphold strict health and safety protocols in the laboratory including the safe disposal of hazardous materials.
• Support for Teachers: Assist science teachers during lessons, providing technical support and troubleshooting as needed.
• Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of laboratory supplies and equipment and assist in ordering new materials when necessary.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably in an educational setting.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures related to laboratory work.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Hold or be willing to apply for an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
• CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible
• Legal right to work in the UK
