Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow (Core) in Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) Oncology and Haematology at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust available to commence from the 7thAugust 2024 for 6-12 months.

This post is suitable for doctors wishing to enhance their General Medical competencies and skills, or considering a career in Haematology, Oncology or Paediatrics. It may also be of interest to those interested in General Practice or Palliative Care, as opportunities exist to work in a diagnostic clinic or alongside the Palliative Care team.

The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with the ward-based team in Oncology and in Haematology to provide the day-to-day care and management of patients aged 14-24 receiving chemotherapy, radiotherapy, bone marrow transplants, CAR-T cell therapy, and Palliative Care on the TYA inpatient ward and Day Unit.

There will also be opportunity to see outpatients and participate in multidisciplinary clinics for the management of haematological and solid tumours. Participation in research and audit projects is strongly encouraged.

Please note that this post doesnotcarry Postgraduate Dean’s approval or training recognition, an Educational Supervisor will work with you to complete a portfolio for this time if you wish.

Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at point of application is required.

This post may be suitable for those wishing to undertake an “F3” role.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
