Job Description - Mechanical Maintenance Technician
1. The Role - Summary The Mechanical Maintenance Technician will have responsibility to keep our complex critical plant and equipment running, within our state-of-the-art ISO Class 8 environment. Ensuring maximum Operational throughput and minimum plant downtime.2. Key tasks and responsibilities
• Maintaining plant and machinery to a high standard through PPM.
• Trouble shooting and mechanical problem solving.
• Fault finding, diagnostics and repairs.
• Pro-actively finding ways to improve line performance.
• Assisting production with line clearance cleans.
• Reassembling equipment and returning to running order, including motors, pumps, gear boxes, bearings, shafts, Pneumatics, and drive belts.
• Attending breakdowns, identifying fault conditions, and rectifying repairs.
• Evaluating, implementing, and commissioning solutions in line with identified PUWER risk assessments.
• Mechanical strip and re-build down to component level.
• Engineering fabrication utilising Workshop equipment, machining & welding capability.
• Supervising contractors when carrying out work on site.
• Responsible for receiving Permits to Work and ensuring engineering work is carried out to all internal and external Health, Safety and Environmental Legislation and Engineering standards.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings.
• Any other duties as required.
3. Compliance responsibilities
• Ensure compliance of engineering activities to relevant medical device standards so that those activities are performed in accordance with approved procedures.
• To follow all associated quality, health, safety and environmental procedures.
• Assist CAPA investigation and resolutions where an engineering input is required.
• Ensure all documents and records are completed in compliance with regulatory requirements.
4. Key skills / abilities· A degree in Mechanical Engineering is desirable, minimum HNC Mechanical Engineering.
• Previous experience of working in food, pharma, packaging, or medical device sector.
• Ability to demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude in a fast-paced F.M.C.G. environment.
• Strong understanding of pumps, motors, pneumatics, mechanical drive belts, conveyors is necessary.
• Working knowledge of steam boilers and compressors.
• Ability to undertake site facilities minor projects including plumbing, heating, and associated building works.
• Ability to solve problems, fault find in a systematic way, making effective use of theoretical knowledge.
• The ability to work as a team member and possess good interpersonal and effective communication skills to influence and keep others informed.
• Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and able to meet agreed deadlines.
• Ability to innovate and challenge the status quo.
• Experience of working in a highly regulated environment.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and work under own initiative.
