Job Description
Job title: Finance Assistant
Responsible to: Finance Lead
Summary: As the Finance Assistant you will assist the Finance Lead and work with the wider finance team in the running, managing, processing and troubleshooting of accounts, payrolls, transactions and other finance-related tasks and queries.
Main Duties:
Accounting
To bank and process all receipts, whether standing orders, cheques or cash or any other means
To process standing orders, direct debits and gift aid
Providing assistance in preparation of claims to the Inland Revenue including gift aid
To assist with the maintenance and editing of databases and donor information
Maintain payable ledger by verifying and posting account transactions
Pay suppliers – monitoring of services/goods to ensure they have been supplied to the required standards and all internal controls have been complied with. Liaison with vendor and staff to achieve timely resolution
Follow up on all invoices for payments within a timely manner and within the date issued on the invoice
Process and prepare financial and business forms for checking account balances, facilitating purchases etc
Perform routine calculations to produce analyses and reports as requested by the Finance Lead
Assist in overseeing and managing individual accounts
Review and audit financial statements and reports, ensuring all calculations and date entries are correct
Reconcile any discrepancies
Suggest and communicate changes or improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and cost reductions to the Finance Lead
Accruals and prepayments on a monthly basis
Assisting the Finance Lead with all bank accounts reconciliations
VAT control/return and making required payments
Supply bank balances to the Finance Lead on a weekly basis, on an agreed reoccurring day of the week with the Finance Lead
Payroll
Collating and distribution of staff payroll information to external payroll provider
Processing required account entries into ledger
Verifying controls
Pension payments and account management
Other
Undertake training and professional development as and when required
Disbursement of petty cash
Assist the Finance Lead in creating financial reports on a regular basis
Be prepared to assist local centres with financial queries and/or financial training
Maintain fixed asset register, processing accounting entries as required
Temp - Perm
£22,420 - (pro-rated salary for 3 days per week is £13,452 per annum)
