We are a growing national company supplying specialist services to the water industry, the Environment Agency, and a broad range of private clients.
Exciting Landscaping and Environmental Supervisor opportunities at a progressive and inclusive water industry contractor.
What you'll be doing:
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Landscaping and Environmental Supervisor will be responsible for delivering works on our Environment Agency contracts to a high standard and in a timely manner. Travel and overnighters will be part of the job0.
The Landscaping and Environmental Supervisor will:
• Be Responsible for running your own small team of site operatives.
• Assist with the preparation of sites, including unloading and storing of building materials and plant.
• Store, handle, use and dispose of materials in the correct manner.
• Operate heavy machinery in conjunction with CPCS training e.g. diggers/dumpers/compressors.
• Maintain a safe and tidy working environment including wearing full PPE, at all times.
• Follow the Company Safety Handbook, and all other safety instructions.
• Able, consistently, to work to a high standard of health and safety and quality.
• Follow all training and reasonable instructions given.
• Work-in or close to rivers and other watercourses.
Who we’re looking for:
While attitude is more important to us than qualifications, The Landscaping and Environmental Supervisor will have a full clean Driving Licence and understand Habitat management. Countryside management experience is a distinct advantage.
If you have the right aptitude and attitude, are good leading of a small team, and have a great deal of pride in your work, we can do the rest.
ESSENTIAL
• Must have a CSCS Green card and a SSSTS or SMSTS card
• Full UK driving licence
• A good communicator, able to liaise confidently and deal with a variety of people including the client, suppliers, and team members.
• Assist with the preparation of sites, including unloading and storing of materials, plant, and equipment.
• Store, handle, use and dispose of materials & waste in the correct manner.
• Perform physical tasks such as asset clearance, vegetation management including use of chainsaws, Brus cutters/line trimmers and knapsack application of herbicides.
• Countryside management tasks, such as fencing, mowing, seeding and hedge maintenance.
• Habitat management such as. Construction of hibernaculum’s, wildflower management, marginal planting, and woodland creation.
• Installation of nature-based solutions, scrapes, ponds, woody debris, and log berms.
• Operate heavy machinery in conjunction with CPCS training e.g. diggers/dumpers etc
• Maintain a safe and tidy working environment including wearing full PPE, at all times
• Follow the Company Safety Handbook, and all other safety instructions
• Knowledge of health and safety is essential.
• Confident working in and around water.
• Must be willing to be on standby and to work weekends during high water events.
• Able to competently use tablet computer or be willing to be trained in its use
DESIRABLE
• Environmental construction experience.
• Mechanical and electrical engineering experience, at any level.
• Certificate in Manual Handling.
