DESIGN MANAGER / DRAUGHTSMAN – HITCHIN
Who we are looking for
People who live within commuting distance of Hitchin and have proven experience in as draughtsman or design manager.
Necessary experience:
• Hands-on experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software
• Familiarity with 3D modelling tools, TEKLA, Advance Steel
• Good math skills
About the role
Type: Permanent, Full Time
Hours: 07:00-16:00
Salary: £45-£55k
This is a permanent role for a forward-thinking Structural steelwork & architectural metalworking company.
The role will include:
• Liaising with architects and engineers to gather product and structural requirements and designs
• Ensuring structural drawings and designs are produced on time, to a high quality, and are easy to deliver.
• Describe production methods step-by-step (including equipment and software types to be used)
• Create detailed designs with computer-aided design (CAD) software, TEKLA, Advance Steel
• Overseeing the design process using technical expertise
• Preparing and reviewing rough sketches and review them along with the team
• Identifying potential operational issues and redesigning products to improve functionality
• Ensuring final designs comply with regulations and quality standards
• Managing a team of 3 draughtsmen and ensuring drawing approval is swift, to keep production on time
• Initial estimation / calculations of materials required for the desired project
• Working with clients to ensure that their expectations are met
• Report to Directors any requirement to improve the process or upgrade the team
