WORKING HOURS: 40 hours per week

Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Environmental Compliance and Sustainable Development Coordinator to join our team at ABM. This role is to manage and coordinate environmental compliance while driving sustainable development initiatives across our business group.

Responsibilities:

 •  Offer timely and effective advice on sustainable development, including environmental matters, to all sectors of the business and client sites. This includes attending meetings and site visits as necessary.
 •  Conduct sustainability audits, develop comprehensive reports, and maintain Sustainability Action Plans for client sites and support in the delivery of waste, carbon, and energy audits across the organisation and client sites.
 •  Collaborate with the Head of Sustainability to update internally hosted environmental risk assessments, procedures, and processes.
 •  Assist in reviewing risk assessments, environmental processes, and procedures. Develop Standard Operating Procedures and Policies while ensuring alignment with legislative changes.
 •  Contribute to the business's use of Sustainable Innovations at a local level.
 •  Deliver approved sustainability and environmental awareness training, to managers and frontline staff members.
 •  Collaborate with local teams to address sustainability and environmental compliance matters effectively.
 •  Maintain the compliance register of sustainability and environmental protection legislation.
 •  Support data collection activities to ensure accurate analysis for monitoring performance against department and corporate sustainability indicators.
 •  Engage with site teams to identify best practices and provide support in developing sustainability and environmental case studies.
 •  Ensure effective communication of lessons learned across the business and promote sustainability and environmental initiatives internally.
 •  Provide guidance to the Sustainable Procurement team, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with sustainable procurement policies and processes.
 •  Audit contracts and contract management processes to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and responsible procurement policies.

Requirements:

 •  Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or related field.
 •  Demonstrated awareness of environmental management systems and environmental tools.
 •  Demonstrate an awareness of responsible procurement and relevant and proportionate application within private and public sector.
 •  Knowledge of Waste Regulations and Greenhouse Gas Protocol and the requirements for Carbon Reporting
 •  Experience of collecting data, maintaining and analysing data for inclusion in papers, reports and projects or presentations
 •  Experience or qualification in site auditing.
 •  Experience of using a range of information technology applications and an awareness of how they can be utilised in the context of the job role.
 •  Good inter-personal skills and the ability to work flexibly and accurately with minimal supervision.
 •  Ability to positively engage with demanding work, good interpersonal skills and team spirit.
 •  Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
 •  Knowledge of ISO Standards and requirements inc. ISO 14001 and ISO 50001.
 •  Willingness to stay away from home for short periods, overnight, should business needs require it.
 •  Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
 •  Certification in environmental auditing or sustainability management (desired).
 •  Proficiency in MS Office suite including Excel.
 •  Full, clean UK driving license.
 •  Affiliate Membership of IEMA or similar.
