Senior Quantity Surveyor (Building Consultancy) – Hazel Grove, Stockport
Our client was founded in 2003 as a building consultancy comprising of chartered building surveyors providing surveying services to key clients predominantly within the education sector. The consultancy has grown into a multi-disciplinary practice offering end to end services with every member of the design team in-house allowing for greater control for our client’s projects over a wide range of services across several sectors.
We are seeking an ambitious and driven candidate who can drive projects from inception through to completion and should preferably have experience of a range of contracts including JCT. Candidates must also be customer focused and have excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills.
Candidates will have a relevant degree, have a technical background appropriate to the core services that our client offers with skills to work across a range of sectors including notably the education sector.
Main Responsibilities
• Lead on commercial deliverables throughout the lifecycle of projects
• Contract administration and manage change through the contract
• Ensure cost control is monitored and maintained throughout all functions (design, procurement and delivery)
• Provide support and mentoring to assistant QS’s
• Prepare subcontract tender packages, carry out comparisons and place relevant orders
• Provide monthly cost & value forecasts
• Support the Lead QS in respect of wider issues
Candidate Specification
• Formal Q.S Qualification
• Work closely design and operations within the project team
• Experience in a similar role from a design and build background
• Good level of QS experience
• Experience in estimating and procurement
• Flexibility to travel when required
• Knowledge of construction contracts including preliminaries and JCT’s
• Experience in the tender and target cost process and the review of such documents
• Strong IT skills with experience of excel and MS Office
• Full clean UK driving license
