The purpose of the role is to provide Technical support to the Maintenance Team

The scope of the job:

As Hydraulic Engineer you will report directly to the Engineering Manager and be responsible for Engineering design, Modernisation, Refurbishments and all Hydraulic and Pneumatic Technology across the department. The role will involve capturing change, improving hydraulic technology and ensuring that existing systems perform to their full potential.
You will be responsible for all statutory requirements in relation to the role. You will work alongside the Engineering team to assist with the planning and execution of Shutdown and weekend works to ensure that plant and equipment is safe and ready to use.

The responsibilities of the job:

To provide Technical Hydraulic, Pneumatic and supervisory support within the engineering team.

The tasks of the job:

 •  Excellent knowledge of complex Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems
 •  To utilise CAD or Solidworks packages – Training will be provided
 •  Knowledge of CMMS. i.e. Spidex etc
 •  To improve existing hydraulic technology and to develop new hydraulic technology
 •  To research and design new technology within the plant to help improve efficiencies and reliability around all aspects of Hydraulics and Pneumatics.
 •  To assist the engineering team in fault finding hydraulic or pneumatic issues.
 •  Analysing oil sample results to ensure oil contamination is controlled and understood.
 •  To supply suppliers with detailed technical information for the repair/procurement of Hyd/Pneu components.
 •  To be in attendance and contribute to meetings (Biweekly, Shutdowns, Health and Safety, Contractors, Suppliers etc.
 •  To take an active role in the new facility installation and the transition for old to new with particular focus on the new Hydraulic systems being installed.
 •  To work with Engineering teams to improve Health and Safety across site.
 •  To adhere and comply with relevant Engineering and SFEL Internal standards.
 •  To ensure compliance is maintained with regards to Pressure vessels and any other legislation related to the plant and equipment.
 •  The ability to make sound decisions based on technical capabilities of products and components.
 •  General responsibility for supporting shop floor engineering teams.
 •  The ability to read Hydraulic/Pneumatic schematics.
 •  To ensure training needs are met within the department.
 •  To identify issues for shutdown works.
 •  Any other duties deemed acceptable for the role

Candidate requirements
 •  The ideal candidate will be fully proficient in hydraulic / pneumatics with either time served experience or via apprentice trained.
 •  Have the ability to problem solve / fault find issue within exsisting plant and machinery
 •  Be able to carry out PPM / Maintenance on all machiney
 •  Be able to respond to breakdowns and get the plant back operational in a timely manner

Package offered with the role

Hours of work - 07:45 - 16:00 - Monday to Friday (weekend working may be required during shutdown)

Salary of up to £47k DOE
