Position Overview: Our client is currently seeking a talented Quantity Surveyor/Estimator to join their team in Oxford. The Quantity Surveyor/Estimator will play a vital role in accurately estimating project costs, preparing tender documents, and managing project budgets to ensure profitability and client satisfaction.
The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of construction processes within the landscaping industry.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimations for landscaping projects, including materials, labor, and subcontractor costs.
• Prepare comprehensive tender documents, including bills of quantities, specifications, and pricing schedules, in accordance with client requirements and project specifications.
• Collaborate with the sales and design teams to review project plans and specifications, offering input on cost-effective solutions and value engineering alternatives.
• Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to obtain competitive pricing and negotiate favorable terms and conditions.
• Analyze project costs and budgets, identifying areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements while maintaining quality standards.
• Monitor project progress and expenses, preparing regular cost reports and forecasts to track project profitability and identify potential risks or deviations from budget.
• Review contract documents and participate in contract negotiations with clients and subcontractors, ensuring terms and conditions are favorable and aligned with company objectives.
• Provide ongoing support and assistance to project managers and site teams, addressing any cost-related issues or inquiries promptly and effectively.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Estimator, preferably within the landscaping or construction industry.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to accurately interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency in quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
• Knowledge of landscaping techniques, materials, and industry best practices.
• Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in estimating project costs and preparing tender documents.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
