About the role
The Learning Support Assistant (LSA) will work under the leadership of the Operational SENCo.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Learning Support Assistant in our school, you will play a vital role in providing tailored support to students with diverse educational needs. Your key responsibilities will include:
Working one-on-one with students to provide individualised support, address their unique learning needs, and help them make progress towards their educational goals
Providing specialised support to students with EAL to help them develop their English language skills and integrate successfully into the classroom environment
Running targeted interventions and group sessions to support students who require additional academic assistance or have specific learning challenges
Planning, preparing and delivering specified learning activities to individuals, small groups and/or classes modifying and adapting activities as necessary under the direction and supervision of a teacher
Assessing, recording and reporting on development, progress and attainment of SEN students
Liaising with staff and other relevant professionals and providing information about pupils as appropriate
Engaging with parents as appropriate
Use teaching and learning objectives to plan, evaluate and adjust lessons/work plans as appropriate within agreed systems of supervision when delivering intervention
Assessing the needs of pupils and using knowledge and specialist skills to support pupils’ learning
Developing independence in our SEN students using metacognitive strategies to help them become self-regulated learners
Taking a Tutor group where required
Providing pastoral care to pupils, supporting pupils in social and emotional well-being, reporting problems to the teacher as appropriate
Participating in team meetings, staff development activities and the wider school community to support the achievement of individual children.
Providing assistance to the SENCO in relation to access arrangements for SEND students in exams
Provide cover where appropriate
