Youth Support Worker – Residential Full Time Only 36 hours per week
Long Days of 8am to 11pm – Sleep ins are 11pm to 8am
3 week rolling rota.
Week 1 30 hrs = 2 days working & 2 sleeps
Week 2 30 hrs = 2 days working & 2 sleeps
Week 3 45 hrs = 3 days working & 3 sleeps
• This is not elderly care, experience of elderly care only is not suitable
• We are unable to offer sponsorship for this role
At LINX16+ our primary objective is to provide vulnerable young people with quality support and guidance to enable them to develop the necessary skills to live full and independent lives. We are committed to supporting young people to prepare them for the transition to independence and adult life.
We support young people leaving care, at risk of homelessness, unaccompanied young asylum seekers and pregnant teenagers amongst others.
What is the role?
As a Youth Support Worker you will be responsible for encouraging our service users to develop their independence whilst ensuring their emotional, psychological and physical needs are met. This could be in supplying support around motivation, self-esteem, respect for themselves and others and creating the opportunity for our young people to discuss their fears and concerns as they approach independence and adulthood.
You will participate in advising and encouraging our young people to access (and participate in) education, employment/training programmes as well as supporting at interviews for further education, employment, housing options and with other external stakeholders.
The role is not supporting around specific conditions but our service users may present conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD and social/emotional difficulties.
What do we look for?
Experience in a similar environment supporting vulnerable Young People, either in a professional or personal capacity
Ability to work within a potentially challenging environment where younger people may need support in understanding your guidance has their best interest at heart
Knowledge of local resources and the willingness to research for more
Excellent communication skills, basic administration skills and reporting/monitoring care plans
The personal experience to be able to relate to some of the barriers our young people face as they move in to the adult world
Patience, empathy and the desire to create positive outcomes for our service users whilst ensuring a tailored response rather than a “one size fits all” approach
Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends on a rota basis and sometimes short notice changes in shifts
