Preston | Contract | www.cv-library.co.uk |
An exciting opportunity is available for a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to join a dynamic team specializing in civil, structural, and architectural (CS&A) projects. This role offers involvement in a variety of nuclear industry projects, spanning from design and construction to decommissioning and waste management.
Role Overview: In this role, you will play a leading part within a dynamic design team, contributing to traditional, bespoke, and innovative designs of reinforced concrete, steel, and masonry structures. Projects include nuclear decommissioning, new builds, and support for operating nuclear sites.
You will be involved in the design of structures associated with mechanical handling equipment, process and electrical systems, and standalone civil/structural tasks. Projects are primarily based in the UK, with potential international involvement, and will require design considerations for various loading scenarios, including seismic design.
Technical leadership and the possibility of assuming the role of Technical Lead on specific projects are key aspects of this role.
Responsibilities:
• Deliver nuclear design work, inspections, and construction site support for a diverse range of clients within the UK and internationally.
• Conduct concept and feasibility studies for multidisciplinary design projects.
• Utilize engineering software such as Tekla and Robot for analysis and design, alongside producing hand calculations.
• Prepare calculations, basis of design documents, material specifications, scopes of work, and technical reports.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary design activities and supervise technicians in Revit model preparation.
• Collaborate effectively with integrated multidisciplinary teams to ensure project success.
• Provide technical support to team members and promote their professional development.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards in both design and office environments.
• Manage project delivery efficiently.
Qualification Requirements:
• Degree qualified (BEng or MEng) in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with membership of ICE or IStructE, or working towards full membership.
Experience Required:
• Demonstrated experience in designing structures using reinforced concrete and steelwork.
• Previous exposure to the nuclear industry and seismic loading design is advantageous.
• Familiarity with current design codes, standards, and regulatory requirements is essential.
