The Company: An award-winning Horticultural business.

The Job Role:
The primary responsibility will be to drive and manage new product development, including regulatory stewardship and provide technical support across the consumer divisions group. As part of the technical team, you will support innovation, technical asset creation, regulatory compliance, and commercial value of our products across all our markets.

Location: Cambridge - Hybrid
Salary: £35,000 - £50,000 depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities: Product development

Lead value add new product development within garden product portfolio.
Deliver and commercially justify new opportunities around fertiliser, plant protection products, biologicals, adjuvants, plant health, wetting agents, and soil amendments.
Manage formulation and regulatory requirements of the new product development process for both regulated and non-regulated products.
Lead long-term product development pipeline and liaise with external partners to ensure successful NPD.
Ensuring we are ahead of the game as a business, creating a difference that is achieved over a 5-year period.
Deliver leading innovation in chemical, non- chemical and horticulture controls.
Oversee new product development, continually driving innovative technologies across the portfolio for new and existing products.

Product Stewardship

Develop and maintain companywide product portfolio including plant nutrition products, and controls technologies in weed, pest and biocides which meets future consumer requirements.
Lead and support the emerging regulatory requirements for the company.
Communicate to third parties.

Education
Delivering internal and external collateral that will educate the retailers.
Working closely with training team to ensure quality delivery of robust technical information.

Commercial
Work with European and global commercial partners to develop opportunities for our brands.
Ensure our business and products are future proofed across all Divisions and markets e.g. Ensuring we strengthen our current position. Understand regulatory and consumer trends and help to direct the business to deliver a sustainable future.

Create commercially deliverable new opportunities around fertiliser, plant protection products, biologicals, adjuvants, plant health, wetting agents, and soil amendments.

Innovation & Project Work
Continue to examine and introduce ''green'' alternatives within our Product Offering.
Create new opportunities and build on current products around ''Plant Health'' feeding technologies.
Review developments within Professional Horticulture around plant protection.
Oversee & benchmark against competitors product range and research key competitor products.
Build relationships with key suppliers, ensuring the company has access to the latest technologies and competitive raw materials.

Candidate Requirements: Knowledge skills and Abilities

You will have a proven track record as a Technical Manager in Consumer Goods, in one of the following: Agri/ Agri Chemical, Chemicals or household controls. You will be delivering against pre-agreed targets and introducing new innovative ideas.

You will have excellent technical knowledge and a strong background in delivering and linking with internal & external stakeholders.
We are looking for a passionate Manager committed to delivering high standards with the enthusiasm and drive to succeed in a challenging fast-moving environment.

You will have a strong work ethic, able to work alone and as part of the wider team
You will be highly analytical.
An excellent communicator.
A tangible track record in developing innovation and winning new business opportunities.

Additional Experience: Has operational experience of bringing products to market.

Qualifications: Degree or similar in Horticulture/Agriculture/Biology/Environmental Sciences

Understanding of Environmental issues
Availability and willingness to travel domestic and overseas

Financial Acumen: Commercially driven

Managed Budgets

Technical Understanding: Desirable to have worked in agricultural or horticultural sector

Has been part of a technical department
Has been at the leading edge of innovation in plant nutrition, chemical controls / pesticides, and biocides within FMCG.

Commercial Awareness: Can help improve innovation across all garden divisions

IT and Systems Knowledge: Experience of IT systems

Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
