LD Tic Practitioner - Oldham/Tameside - £35,000p/a

Search are recruiting for a LD Tic Practitioner to join an outstanding team based in Oldham or Tameside.
Your role will be to work as part of a staff team, on a 24-hour rota basis (12-hour shift pattern), working with children and young people in a residential setting. You will support the Regional Leads in the development and implementation of young persons' care plan and GMT Therapeutic Mental Health Intervention programme, ensuring their needs are met.
You will assist in the running of the home as required and ensure that all daily recordings of the young person's day are kept to a high standard.

Duties of the role
 •  Promote good practice through the provision of a secure and caring environment for the children in accordance with company values and Tier 3.5 Therapeutic Mental Health Intervention Programme.
 •  Implement individual intervention programmes in accordance with the philosophy of GMT.
 •  Work together with the Regional Leads, Home Managers and RMHNs, families of the children and young people professionals.
 •  Be aware of and respond to the needs of children and young people - physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, social and cultural, operating a true Trauma Informed, Biopsychosocial approach.
 •  Ensure that anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive practices are maintained throughout GMT.
 •  Create positive relationships with children and young people and interact in a way that promotes self-esteem and confidence.
 •  To action all risk assessment strategies with regards to individual children and young people.
 •  To undertake 'Appropriate Adult' duties at hospital and/or the police station etc when required to do so.
 •  To report all serious incidents which occur during any period of time.
 •  To support always with the prevention of wrongful hospitalisation and unnecessary police intervention in line with The Great Minds Model, ensuring all trigger plans are followed for each young person, and we are following the Psychology department lead in respect of supporting with Mental Health difficulties as a result of unmet needs, not Mental illnesses. If there is evidence of a Mental illness, support to ensure these symptoms are effectively recorded and that the Psychology department is kept fully up to date on any developments.
 •  To be prepared (in the event of staff being late, delayed or who have reported sick) to remain at post until relieved, even though this would mean remaining in duty after normal finishing times so as not to breach the DOL orders in place in respect of staffing ratios.
 •  To be alert and observant with regards to the well-being of the young person.
 •  To be part of the staff team - to participate in training, to attend staff meetings and to assist with home functions including administration duties.

Requirements
 •  Good interpersonal skills
 •  Excellent relationship building techniques
 •  Experience in working with young people that have a learning disability, Autism and/or have experienced Trauma (including Trauma from unmet needs).
 •  Ability to understand children and young people that may present with distressed behaviours as a result of past experiences and have patience to help them work through those behaviours and not take their behaviour personally.
 •  Trauma informed
 •  Ability to handle conflict
 •  Ability to use initiative
 •  Ability to work as part of a team
 •  Oral and written communication skills appropriate to the needs of the children and the staff group
 •  Ability to have good organisational and time management skills
 •  Ability to engage in good childcare practice, support children constructively
 •  Ability to look at situations from all perspectives and support with mediation
