Hayward House is a 20 bedded Specialist Palliative Care Unit in the grounds of the City Campus of Nottingham University Hospital NHS Trust. We currently have a vacancy for a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Educator within Specialist Palliative Care.

You must be educated to degree standard (or be willing to undertake this), relevant to the speciality and have a recognised teaching qualification. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills are essential.

You must have excellent clinical knowledge and skills, demonstrated through completion of competency packages.

The Clinical Nurse Educator works closely with the Ward Managers, Matron and Practice Development Matrons to improve and shape the education, knowledge and clinical competence of all grades of the Hayward House nursing team.

An informal visit is highly recommended.

Spend 50% of their time in clinical practice in a supervisory capacity supporting new starters, international nurses and healthcare assistants while working alongside nursing staff providing clinical care to develop their knowledge and skills.

Deliver a specialty specific programme of training and education ensuring nursing teams have the skills and competencies to function safely, effectively and efficiently. This will include the planning and implementation any new or extended clinical skills or roles.

Contribute to the development; implementation and evaluation of the Education and Training Needs Analysis for the specialty ensuring returns from appraisals are fed through to ensure continuous professional development for the area.
Be responsible for supporting ward/ dept. sisters charge nurses to ensuring staff complete their mandatory training, induction, HCA academy and Acute Care Skills in a timely manner.
Contribute to the delivery and facilitation of individual sessions on the divisional education and training programmes.
Support the division in sharing of best practice and learning from patient complaints and incidents, maintaining a continuous cycle of improvement.
Work collaboratively with other clinical educators across the division to ensure education and training opportunities are shared across the division and inter-professionally.
