Semi Independent Support Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to provide support and guidance to young people within a supported living setting. The young people will be facing multiple disadvantages including lack of education and employment, addiction and substance misuse problems, mental health difficulties and may have been involved in crime and offending behaviour.
The ideal candidate will have good experience in these areas and a strong understanding of the challenges faced by young people transitioning to independence and will be able to create a supportive and nurturing environment.

Responsibilities:
  1.  Individualised Support: Provide individualised support to young people in the semi-independent living program, addressing their unique needs and goals.
  2.  Life Skills Development: Assist young people in developing essential life skills, including budgeting, meal planning, time management, and self-care.
  3.  Emotional Support: Offer emotional support and encouragement to help our young people build resilience and cope with the challenges they may face.
  4.  Crisis Intervention: Be prepared to handle crisis situations effectively, ensuring the safety and well-being of the young people in the program.
  5.  Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other support staff, social workers, and external agencies to coordinate comprehensive care plans for each resident.
  6.  Advocacy: Advocate for the rights and needs of the young people, ensuring they have access to appropriate services and resources.
  7.  Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of each young person progress, including observations, incidents, and achievements.
  8.  Communication: Communicate regularly with residents, their families, and other stakeholders to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to support.

Requirements:
 •  Relevant professional or management qualification
 •  Experience in management, preferably in the social care sector.
 •  Experience leading and delivering projects.
 •  Results focused, the ability to work proactively, plan, organise and optimise resources and complete targets within agreed timescales.
 •  Ability to demonstrate effective people management skills through delegating, empowering, motivating and coaching junior staff.
 •  Competent using Microsoft Office.
 •  Experience of working with disadvantaged young people.
 •  Resource management & Budgeting
 •  Crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills.
 •  Driving license and car – due to the location.
