Location: Braintree
Salary: £32 - £40k (depending on experience)
Hours: Mon-Fri 40 hrs (flexible start and finish time)

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our client's finance team in Braintree. With a supportive team and a range of financial responsibilities, this role offers an excellent opportunity for growth and development.

As the Assistant Accountant, you will be responsible for supporting the Financial Controller with various reporting duties and team supervision. Your proactive nature and "can do" attitude will thrive in this dynamic and fast-paced environment.
This is a maternity cover position, and you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and maintaining smooth finance operations.

Here's a glimpse of what your day-to-day responsibilities will entail:

Assisting the Financial Controller in preparing monthly management accounts working papers and other reports, such as Fixed Assets/Leases, Prepayment register, Aged Balance Reviews, Employee Loan Reviews, and CIS Returns.
Supervising the purchase ledger function, providing support to all business entities within the organisation, conducting team appraisals and one-to-ones, and stepping in when needed for holiday cover.
Reviewing and authorising payments, ensuring timely reconciliation and payment of suppliers and subcontractors.

Managing supplier and subcontractor databases, ensuring compliance with IR35, VAT legislations, and insurance updates.To excel in this role, you will need the following skills and qualifications:

Part Qualified Accountant or AAT Qualified.
Experience in a supervisory role is preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
Familiarity with office operations and procurement would be advantageous.
Basic knowledge of CIS tax, the VAT Domestic Reverse Charge, and IR35 is desirable but not essential.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong customer service skills.
