Job Title: Estimator
Location: Ringwood
Salary: Up to £50,000 + Package
My client, a leader in the design and build industry, is seeking a career-driven Estimator to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience working alongside some of the best professionals in the market!
Role Purpose
To assist the Bid Managers in the entire bidding process to enable the company to secure single suspended deck and multi-storey car park projects.
Preparation of tender take-off's and bills of quantities for use in cost estimates.
Preparation of estimated costs for use in cost estimates.
Preparation of tender stage design, procurement and construction programmes.
Preparation of pre-tender turnkey budget costs, outline layout designs, high level programmes, and outline proposals documents, in support of the Business Development function.
Key Accountabilities
Analyse bid requirements from the Employer's Requirements/Contractor's Requirements/invitation to tender documents.
Prepare and price detailed bills of quantities.
Prepare and issue detailed enquiries to Sub-Contractors and suppliers.
Obtain detailed quotations from Sub-Contractors and suppliers.
Analyse and normalise trade specific quotations
Obtain competitive market rates and prices.
Seek the best and most innovative alternative materials, products, processes, Sub-Contractors and suppliers to gain the greatest commercial advantage.
Assess and recommend the best value proposition from Sub-Contractors and suppliers for all elements of the cost estimate.
Assist in the compilation of the Contractor's Proposals Document.
Compile the fully completed cost estimate, in preparation for the internal tender adjudication with the Directors.
Actively participate in the internal tender adjudication with the Directors.
Become a key member of the pre-contract team and make a positive contribution to the success of the company through winning profitable orders.
Requirements
Essential
Previous experience of working as an Estimator.
Proven ability to estimate on base principles - plant, labour, materials.
Knowledge of building estimating techniques.
Ability to use and manipulate spreadsheets i.e. Excel.
Ability to prepare detailed bills of quantities.
Proven knowledge of how a specialist Contractor operates.
Previous experience of the construction industry.
Understanding of basic multi storey car park and structural design principles.Desirable
BSc (Hons) or equivalent qualification in relevant discipline.
Knowledge of SMM7 and/or NRM2
