Early Years Worker – Play Worker

Job role:

A happy and vibrant day centre in Camden is looking for a confident, sociable, and enthusiastic Play Worker to add value to their supportive, caring, and fun team. You will be supporting Children with Special Needs from the ages of 8-16 years old and will be assigned a child every day to support (1-1 or a 2-1 role if necessary) in the day centre.

As a Play Worker, you will be responsible for creating a safe and engaging environment for children to play and learn. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a passion of working with children with Disabilities and SEND that has a creative approach to promoting their development through play.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and contribute to their development.

Hours advertised below are fixed during school term-time and the 6 weeks of holiday scheme:

Mon – Fri, 14:30 to 18:30, Saturday, 09:00 to 16:30 (Term time)

Mon – Fri, 09:00 to 16:30 (Non-term time)

Responsibilities:

 •  Assist children with daily activities, including personal hygiene, feeding, and mobility, based on their individual needs and abilities.
 •  Provide personalized care and support to children and young adults with disabilities, always ensuring their safety and well-being.
 •  To ensure all activities are set up with appropriate toys and equipment before each session begins, ensuring a risk assessment is completed and updated regularly.
 •  Foster a supportive and inclusive environment where children can build social skills, confidence, and independence.
 •  Plan and facilitate engaging and age-appropriate activities, educational games, and sensory experiences.

Requirements:

 •  MUST have an NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care OR Children & Young People
 •  MUST have at least 1 year UK experience with Children, Learning Disabilities and SEND
 •  MUST hold a DBS registered on the update service or willing to apply for a new one
 •  MUST have a good level of English (written & verbal) skills
 •  MUST be happy to provide personal care
 •  MUST be flexible to work throughout the week

Candidates with the experience or relevant job titles of: Nursery Practitioner, Childrens Support Worker, Early Years Support Worker, Teaching Assistant, Nursery TA, Early Years Practitioner, SEN Assistant, SEND, Learning Support Assistant, Support Worker, Community Support Worker and Special Needs Support will be considered for this role
