Elvet Recruitment have been appointed to recruit for a Financial Controller to join a Civil engineering business in Sheffield.
Responsibilities
• Develop new accounting system and controls
• Manage all accounting operations including purchase ledger, sales ledger, general ledger & inventory.
• Compile the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
• Prepare, analyse and publish monthly financial statements
• Undertake month-end and year-end close process
• Manage the year-end financial audit process
• Assist with day-to-day management of banking - including but not limited to, cash receipts and payment postings, bank reconciliations, supplier payments
• Customer and supplier account reconciliations
• Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Cashflow analysis
• Compile and review monthly VAT returns
• Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
The Successful Applicant
• Experience with creating financial statements
• Professional certification such as ACCA, ACA, CIMA or qualified by experience (QBE with relevant experience)
• 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
• Excellent cash management experience
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
• Excellent communication skills required
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
• Knowledge of Sage (essential) and ERP systems preferred
• Experience of statutory accounts also preferred
• Experience of working in a engineering/manufacturing environment is preferred but not essential.
Salary £50,000 - £60,000 per annum
