The Role

If your answer is yes, we might have a perfect opportunity for you. Capgemini Engineering are looking for Black Hat Supervisors with experience in the nuclear sector to join our exciting and continuously growing Mechanical and Physical engineering team.

As a “Black Hat” (non-working supervisor), you will manage all Health & Safety aspects of Installation activities on site. You will also conduct Risk Assessments/Point of Work Risk Assessments review, take lead on Toolbox Talks and will maintain on site supervision ensuring that all company policies are adhered to. Main responsibilities include:

 •  Review and approve technical & safety documentation
 •  Be involved in technical and planning discussions
 •  Ensure installation of works is as per design and process
 •  Deliver works on time and within parameters of the budget set for the task.
 •  Supervise contracted staff
 •  Prepare site reports and fill in needed documentation
 •  Manage and ensure compliance of the NNB permit to work processes
 •  Attend coordination meetings with Principal Contractor and their other tier 1 contractors
 •  Act as and Incident Controller (IC)
 •  Act as Trauma and Medical Immediate Care (TMIC)

Your Profile
 •  Basic mechanical & electrical knowledge
 •  Candidate must be a strong team leader who pays attention to safety and quality as a priority, always leading by example
 •  Must be able to set people to work and ensure works are delivered as per design, on time and on budget
 •  Project management
 •  Team working and relationship-building skills
 •  Communication skills
 •  Technical skills
 •  Industrial relations management

Essential qualifications:

Level 3 Apprenticeship in at least one of the following:

 •  Engineering Construction - Pipefitting Standard or Mechanical or Plating;
 •  Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician;
 •  Engineering Fitter;
 •  Metal Fabricator;
 •  Project Controls Technician
 •  Enrolment onto ILM Level 3 Certificate C&BE plus completion of Nuclear Unit or Nuclear Engineering Construction Supervisor (NECS)

At least one of the following:

 •  LATS, SMSTS or IOSH Managing Safely

Essential training for the role (HPC specific training)
 •  CCNSG
 •  TMIC trained (First Aid at Work trained)
 •  IC trained
 •  TMIC trained (First Aid at Work trained)

Security Clearance

Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS)

To be successfully appointed to this role you will need to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks.

There are no nationality or residency restrictions, although if you have resided outside of the UK within the last 3 years, further checks may be required.

There are other criteria and check required for BPSS, and throughout the recruitment process, you will be asked questions about your security clearance eligibility such as, but not limited to, country of residence and nationality.
