Food First Lead Dietitian

Band 7 £43,742 - £50,056 per annum

Hours: up to 37.5 hours / week - permanent role

All MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working & part time hours.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to develop and lead new a Food First community dietetic service for Milton Keynes.

The successful candidate will join our forward-thinking and friendly community dietetic team based at Milton Keynes University Hospital; they will be leading a newly commissioned Food First team working across care homes and primary care.

This new service been commissioned to level up Milton Keynes with similar services across Bedfordshire and Luton, the Milton Keynes team will consist of 2 further team members (Dietitian & Dietetic Assistant Practitioner), working as part of the community dietetic service.

This post is suitable for a dietitian who has considerable experience of working in a community setting and can demonstrate excellent leadership skills.

You should have good communication and time management skills with an ability to be flexible and have a strong commitment to teamwork. The successful candidate will work closely with the community and acute colleagues, and also with the existing Food First teams across Bedfordshire and Luton.

You will be joining our wider team based at Milton Keynes Hospital of over 30 registered dietitians, dietetic support workers and admin staff, covering acute, community, paediatric and learning disability services.

We have excellent secretarial and dietetic assistant support and take students for clinical placements from the University of Surrey and Coventry University. On site accommodation is usually available.

As a Department and Trust, we will provide support and opportunities for clinical and leadership CPD, we also committed to supporting external education and career development opportunities. We have a dedicated Therapy Practice Education team to support staff development.

 •  Develop, lead, and coordinate a Food First team in Milton Keynes.
 •  The post holder will have knowledge of emerging clinical developments, provide advice to inform service development in the speciality in support of the Dietetic Service Lead.
 •  To demonstrate and role model specialist clinical assessment and treatment skills for an agreed caseload of patients.
 •  To continually review staffing levels/skill mix in accordance with the changing needs of the service and informing the Dietetic Service Lead of any problems that may arise.
 •  To act as a source of expertise in specialist area for patients, carers, medical staff and other health professionals, prescribing support team, GPs and colleagues.
