Pertemps are seeking a dedicated Building Safety & Compliance Manager to act as the primary point of contact for all matters related to housing and building safety within a local Authority. This role requires a proactive individual who can provide expert technical advice, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety across all Council operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the Council’s lead advisor on housing and building safety, offering clear and authoritative guidance on general and fire safety matters.
Communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including residents, Council members, senior officers, and colleagues, providing necessary training and instruction to uphold safety standards.
Oversee the procurement process for repair contracts, ensuring adherence to best practices and statutory compliance for the Council’s social housing properties.
Manage the Health and Safety Team’s resources efficiently to minimize risks and safeguard the health, safety, and wellbeing of the Council’s employees, service users, residents, occupiers, volunteers, visitors, contractors, and all those impacted by the Council’s activities.
Implement and maintain comprehensive safety policies and procedures, conducting regular reviews to align with current legislation and best practices.
Coordinate with external agencies and regulatory bodies to ensure continuous compliance and address any safety concerns promptly.
Prepare and present reports on safety performance and compliance to senior management and relevant committees.
Qualifications: A degree in a relevant field such as Building Safety, Engineering, or Health and Safety.
Professional certification in health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH).
Extensive experience in building safety and compliance, preferably within a public sector environment.
Strong knowledge of safety regulations and legislation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders.
Proven ability to manage teams and resources to achieve safety objectives.
