Purpose:
To plan, deliver, and assess Apprentice training programmes within the subject area of Engineering and to assist in the marketing and development of sector specific Apprentice programmes to industry.

Key Responsibilities: Carry out training needs analysis for firms in relation to Apprenticeship & other training programmes.

To draw up Individual and Group Learning Plans & to co-ordinate and lead on initial skills assessment for Apprenticeship and other training programmes.
To liaise with staff in the planning, delivery and assessment of the agreed training plan and to monitor progress of apprentices and groups of apprentices.
Assess & review apprentices/trainees in accordance with interna/external requirements in Engineering.

To be responsible for overseeing and reporting on performance of the learner journey

To lead on quality assurance and quality improvements for apprenticeship & other programmes within the curriculum area, including liaison with awarding organisations & implementing quality improvement actions.

To liaise with the Curriculum Team to co-ordinate the delivery and completion of all parts of the: Apprentice Framework including Functional Skills and Technical Certificate

Apprenticeship Standards including preparation for End Point Assessment
Deliver teaching & learning sessions as needed by the needs of Apprenticeship/other training programmes.
To deliver up to 170 hours teaching and training sessions in support of apprenticeship/curriculum related activities in Electrical Engineering . These hours can be extended due to operational needs.
To assist the Business Development Manager in the promotion of such programmes.
To assist with organisation/administration duties related to apprenticeship programmes.
Undertake monitoring, evaluation & assessment procedures to support the progress of student learning.
To assist with recruitment, enrolment and induction of Apprentice programmes.
To maintain effective relationships between academic and support staff and provide a communication link between employers and department managers.
Such other duties connected with the post as may reasonably be required.
To undertake Health & Safety checks in the workplace and maintain records.
To undertake 30 hours (pro-rata) continual professional development.

Person Specification: Qualifications/ Training -

5 GCSE's (A-C) including English and Mathematics or equivalent Level 2 qualifications or be able to achieve with support within a set timescale (Essential).
Level 3 Qualification in a related vocational area (Essential).
PGCE / Cert Ed or Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards (Desirable).
A2/A1 or equivalent qualifications or willing to work towards (Desirable).
V1 qualification or willing to work towards (Desirable).
Health and Safety qualifications (Desirable).
IAG related qualification (Desirable).
Experience -
Recent relevant industry experience (Essential).
Teaching or Training experience (Essential).
Experience of planning training for individuals and/or employers (Desirable).
Recent experience of delivery of NVQ in a work place or company environment (Desirable).
Health and Safety Risk Assessments (Desirable).
Advanced practical/technical skills (Desirable).
Supervisory experience (Desirable).
Administrative experience (Desirable).
Skills and Knowledge -
Understanding of education/training programmes including apprenticeships (Essential).
Marketing and promotional skills (Essential).
Customer care experience (Essential).
Experience of training & assessing (Essential).
IT and administration/organisation skills (Desirable).
Experience of events/promotions (Desirable).
Experience of undertaking Reviews (Desirable).
