Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, during school terms

Compensation: daily rate ranging from £85 to £100
Location: Newham, East London

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of students? An exciting opportunity awaits in Newham, East London, at a renowned educational institution. We’re seeking a compassionate and dedicated Social and Emotional Support Specialist to join our dynamic team.
This role is pivotal in providing tailored assistance to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, fostering an environment where every student can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

 •  Provide personalized support to students with SEMH needs, nurturing their emotional well-being and academic growth.
 •  Implement effective behaviour management strategies tailored to individual student needs, fostering a positive learning environment.
 •  Collaborate closely with teachers, the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), and external professionals to develop and implement personalized education plans (PEPs).
 •  Act as a mentor and advocate, building positive relationships with students to support their social and emotional development.
 •  Assist in creating and adapting learning resources to meet the diverse needs of students with SEMH requirements.
 •  Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour to contribute to ongoing assessments and reviews.

Requirements:

 •  Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, preferably within an educational setting.
 •  A solid understanding of SEMH and its impact on learning and behaviour.
 •  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students, colleagues, and parents.
 •  Patience, empathy, and resilience to effectively support students facing social and emotional challenges.
 •  Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support or related fields (desirable).
 •  Willingness to obtain Enhanced DBS clearance.
