National Field Manager – Meter Reading Operations

Purpose of the job:

To lead and direct a team of Team Leaders and 3rd parties, in the management of a large meter reading operation, tasked with collecting data and carrying out service termination safety inspections, on a national basis.

Main assignments:

§ Understanding and driving performance of the team leaders to meet KPI’s in relation to customer experience, productivity, completion, and revenue targets.

§ Direct and manage the selection, recruitment ,and ongoing development of a highly effective national team.

§ Working with Key internal stakeholders, suppliers, and external end users to schedule the attendance of meter readers, in line with customer requirements, whilst ensuring that the workforce have their abilities optimised, with downtime minimised.

§ Responsible for National Forecasting Plans including ensuring the right number of SVAs are recruited to effectively cover the demand, with the right mix of skills.

§ Work closely with the scheduling teams (both outsourced and inhouse) to manage the allocation and booking of appointments.

§ Be the escalation point for issues arising including but not limited to customer complaints, requests for emergency appointments, arranging out of hours calls.

§ Ensure all staff are trained to required skill levels for safe and effective working.

§ Manage Holiday/Sickness to ensure it is within target levels, having no detrimental impact to the customer and the wider business.

§ Ensuring work is delivered to meet the standards IMServ set in both procedures and from a Health and Safety point of view.

§ Vehicles, stock, paperwork, and general administration including travel and hotel bookings are managed in line with quality and company procedures.

§ To audit field staff as needed and maintain documented work standards, arrange for any necessary training, and further development.

§ Management of cost centre - ensure all steps are taken to drive costs lower and build value into each project without compromising quality.

Technical Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

§ UK Utilities knowledge.

§ Proven team management experience on a national scale.

§ Proven experience of managing 3rd parties commercially and operationally

§ A full UK driving license.

§ High degree of commercial and financial awareness.

§ Able to analyze complex data for decision making

§ Knowledge of health and safety, and quality management.

§ Field Project management skills.

Skills & Attributes:

§ Strong, clear communication skills with good levels of written and spoken English.

§ Able to work in a complex environment with conflicting demands and to make clear and consistent decisions.

§ Anticipates issues and is pro-active in dealing with them.

§ Be capable of transporting stock and equipment to and from site.

§ Able to work in environments that require adherence to stringent safety rules.

§ Able to work under own initiative.

§ Mobile, able to travel distances and work away from home as needed.
