Are you the right person for the job?
To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills and qualifications:
Minimum two years of experience in a VAT/Bookkeeping position, with a strong understanding of VAT regulations and procedures
Proficiency in Xero is essential, along with strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and familiarity with other accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Free Agent, and Sage
What will your role look like?
As a VAT/Bookkeeping Accountant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial health and compliance for clients. Your responsibilities will include:
Preparation of VAT returns: Reconciling sales and purchase invoices, as well as bank accounts, to ensure accurate reporting. You will be responsible for preparing and filing VAT returns using various schemes, subject to review by your manager
Communicating with clients: Providing exceptional service through clear and concise communication via email and telephone, addressing queries and offering support
VAT registrations: Assisting clients with VAT registrations, guiding them through the process with expertise and professionalism
General bookkeeping: Supporting the accounts team with various bookkeeping tasks to maintain accurate financial records
Assisting with HMRC investigations: Playing a key role in supporting clients during HMRC VAT investigations, ensuring compliance and resolution
Communication with HMRC: Interacting with HMRC as necessary, representing clients with integrity and professionalism
