Senior Highways Design Engineer

Our client are the UK's leading residential care home developers. With over 30 years of experience in industry, their Leeds office are currently recruiting for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Highways Design Engineer to oversee and manage all their adoptable highway design projects from inception to completion.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in highways design and construction, particularly in undertaking S278 & S38 designs and applications. As a Highways Design Engineer, you will be working closely with their Technical Director and Civils & Groundworks Director to ensure the successful delivery of their civils & highway projects.
This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires excellent design, organizational, and communication skills.
As well as managing and overseeing highway design projects from conception to completion, including site supervision of highway and infrastructure projects, you will be required to conduct inspections to ensure construction activities align with design specifications and also address, challenge or resolve any design-related issues during the construction phase.
You will develop detailed engineering designs for highway and road projects, including S38 and S278 applications and also prepare drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, cost estimates and health and safety plans for highway construction projects and will be expected to collaborate with regulatory agencies to obtain necessary permits and approvals and ensure designs comply with national and local regulations, standards, and codes.
Possessing a minimum 3 years of experience in highway design and engineering, you will be a proficient user of Civil 3D and have a strong understanding of highways engineering principles and practices. You will also have knowledge of relevant regulations and codes governing highway design as you will be involved in project management and technical delivery of highway projects and also the preparation of health and safety documentation, design risk registers and operation & maintenance manuals to ensure all designs are CDM compliant.
The business offer a Discretionary Bonus Scheme payable twice annually, the opportunity to purchase additional annual leave and also offer free parking. There is also an onsite gym and they also offer 4-weekly pay (13 pay days per year).
