What is the job?
We are looking for a Quality Assurance Manager to oversee and audit Thorlabs Ltd Quality systems, statutory compliance and accreditations, and set strategy for our Environmental policies.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (Hybrid Working Available)

Who we are?

Thorlabs is a global, industry leading optical technologies company. We are experts in the design and manufacture or a range of innovative photonics products. We use these products in manufacturing and research, from fibre optics to piezo motors.
We are the gold standard with optics laboratories worldwide. There are now 22 facilities across the world in 13 countries. Here in Ely, we are responsible for the Motion Control and Optical Tables product line.

Where you will be working?

It’s a hybrid role, working in our new purpose-built facility in Witchford, Ely as well as your home. Our purpose-built facility is just 12 miles from Cambridge, within the beautiful mediaeval city of Ely. There are train and bus links to Ely from Kings Cross and Liverpool Street London, and our site is within distance of Ely train station and Ely Bus station.

Requirements

What is essential to us…
 •  Experience and qualifications in Quality Management Systems in a similar manufacturing environment.
 •  Bachelor degree in a relevant field and/or a proven track record of working in a similar role.
 •  Environmental management qualification such as NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate.
 •  In-depth knowledge of quality metrics, ISO standards, and processes.
 •  Knowledge of environmental legislation and practical skills to implement these into business thinking.
 •  Understanding of manufacturing processes and how decisions impact customer satisfaction, product quality, and on-time delivery.
 •  Ability to influence people and coordinate resources to meet quality metrics.
 •  Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders globally.

What we would like you to do/ to see…
 •  Maintain and establish Thorlabs Ltd requirements to comply with all relevant business legislation
 •  Oversight of all required business certifications and compliance standards.
 •  Set a strategy for Thorlabs Ltd environmental and sustainability processes.
 •  Lead development, implementation, maintenance and improvement of quality systems and processes
 •  Lead our Internal Auditing team to maintain all relevant quality and compliance systems.
 •  Ensure all business processes meet international and national compliance standards.
 •  Keep up to date with legislation changes, and regularly communicate with Thorlabs Entities.
 •  Carry out regular risk assessments in key compliance areas and communicate finding with relevant business owners.
 •  Collaborate with our product compliance and design engineers to ensure we are meeting our regulatory responsibilities.
 •  Maintain controls and documentation procedures.
 •  Interface with global quality team to ensure compliance and resolution of any issues.
 •  Analyse root causes of deficiencies and ensure proper corrective actions are implemented.
 •  Participate in cross-functional team efforts to improve processes.
 •  Eliminate waste, reduce cost, recover efficiency, improve quality, and increase staff involvement by pursuing a Lean Transformation in the spirit of continuous improvement.
 •  Ensure effective use of Visual Management Systems to drive improved efficiency and quality.
