Sphere solutions are currently recruiting for a Quality Engineer to work on a multimillion pound project on the A465 motorway in South Wales. We are constantly recruiting and keen to touch base with the best possible opportunities. See below for the following vacancy.

Our client is a large tier 1 civil engineering contractor based in South Wales, and have approached us with the urgent requirement of recruiting a Quality Engineer on a permanent basis. The project involves a 17.3km motorway expansion located near Dowlais, Merthyr Tydfil and Hirwaun.
The splitting of the motorway is important for the improvement of mobility and connectivity in Wales, as well as the revival of the local economy post COVID-19.

Purpose of Job

The jobholder is responsible for supporting the Discipline Quality Managers in the follow up of the QA requirements, especially the Inspection Check Sheets as well as ensuring that the works comply with the contract requirements,
Responsibilities
 •  Carry out inspections on site to confirm the adequacy of the checking system and authorised personnel.
 •  Assist the construction team with the control of subcontractors work regarding the standard of work offered.
 •  Where the works do not comply ensure that Non-conformance Reports are produced,
 •  preventative action is taken, and that they are closed in a timely manner. Offer advice where
 •  applicable.
 •  Prevent defective work being produced.
 •  Monitor the quality of materials delivered to site via goods inwards inspections.
 •  Ensure attendance when snagging of completed work takes place and the closing out of these
 •  works on an ongoing basis.
 •  Report directly to the Head of Quality on problems encountered on site.
 •  Involvement in the collation and completion of project record packages.
 •  Adherence to A465 FCC policies and procedures.
 •  Timely reporting of defects.
 •  Ensure all Permanent Materials are backed by a MAR.
 •  Ensure inspection Check sheets are reflecting the course of the works.
 •  Support the site team and the DSR in the closure of check sheets.
 •  Prepare and agree ITPs with the site team and the DSR.
 •  Ensure that all activities on site follow our approved ITPs.
 •  Ensure all trends identified are raised with the Head of Quality, Quality Managers Material
 •  Manager and PTU Manager.
 •  Identify high risk areas of the project to ensure effective audit planning to mitigate risk through
 •  auditing.

Environmental Responsibilities
 •  Consider the environment in decision making, including material procurement, energy efficiency, pollution, and ecology on site.
 •  Be environmentally aware of the consequences of actions; be familiar with relevant project documentation, standards and contractual requirements regarding environmental performance seek advice from the Environmental Department.

Specific Safety Responsibilities
 •  Take reasonable care for the safety of themselves and of any other person who may be affected by what they do or fail to do at work.
 •  Co-operate with their employers or any other persons in the performance of their statutory duties.
 •  Not to misuse or interfere with anything provided in the interests of health, safety or welfare
