Purpose of the role

Led by Digital Catapult and funded by Belfast Region City Deal and Innovate UK, the UK Digital Twin Centre will actively enable industry and innovators to safely embrace, explore and realise the dynamic power of digital twins. Operating from the heart of Northern Ireland, the Centre will accelerate the adoption of digital twins to drive global competitive advantage for UK businesses.
By creating the conditions for digital twins to be better understood, more easily developed and more meaningfully applied, the Centre will give businesses real-time capabilities to make smarter decisions and achieve better outcomes, enabling the potential of digital twins to be realised, not theorised.
Through partnerships with industry pioneers, the Centre will demonstrate how digital twins can responsibly revolutionise critical industries in maritime, aerospace and defence, and advance the products, services, and systems of the future.

The role is focused on enhancing and managing the system and ecosystem capabilities of digital twins. Core responsibilities include overseeing capabilities such as Device Management, ensuring comprehensive System Monitoring and Alerting, maintaining precise Logging practices, and governing Data with a commitment to reliable interactions across all facets of the digital twin cyber-physical infrastructure.
Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team, the Technologist plays a strategic role in not only advancing the technological offerings of the centre but also in guaranteeing their operational excellence and meeting the need to curate and maintain adequate documentation and archiving for continued visibility and operability of legacy assets from the programme.
The aim is to deliver solutions that exemplify the full potential of digital twin technology, thereby fostering widespread adoption and seamless integration.

Requirements

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR (Experience)
 •  A masters degree in computer science or related field. Equivalent professional experience will be considered
 •  Grasp of or keen interest in Digital Twin Management technologies and cyber-physical integrations
 •  Expertise in holistic management of cyber-physical systems
 •  Familiar with developing and refining complex software solutions that with integration or cyber-physical asset and systems
