About the role

As a Commercial Assistant, you will be supporting our Power T&D Commercial Team to deliver complex work and become involved in some of the biggest infrastructure projects within the industry.

Role Purpose:

A Commercial Assistant assists other Quantity Surveyors in carrying out a range of commercial duties. They help manage the costs of a project at every stage and help to ensure that projects meet legal and quality standards, and they support the effective engagement and management of our supply chain.
Typically, they will be academically qualified to HNC/HND level. They will be confident IT/Systems users – have good knowledge of Microsoft office 365 (Excel, word, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint etc).

Previous experience of Oracle R12 would be advantageous but not essential as training can be provided.

What you'll be doing

Project Management

Support with compilation of plant and labour costs for package leads

Collation of Cost and Value Information

Assist QS in Preparation of Cost reconciliation statements.

Take minutes for cost and performance meeting.

Procurement

Collect information required to specify procurement requirements.

Record and document information including registration of interest.

Commercial Management

Collation of cost and value information

Use the company’s Oracle R12 System

Input sub-contract application liabilities to Oracle R12/production of payment certificate.

Update order value requirements and prepare final account statement.

Maintain monthly sub-contractor application/payment control sheet.

Development, Recruitment and Retention

Maintain a Personal Development Plan

Who we're looking for

The following qualifications are essential:

HNC/HND or equivalent

NVQ The following qualities/experience are desirable:

Work experience Industry knowledge

Knowledge of the role of a Commercial Assistant/Finance Assistant/Quantity Surveyor

Analytical reasoning/previous knowledge of accounting Experience of Oracle R11 or R12
