Senior Lab Technician – Reading – £16-£27 per hour – 6 months
Working within a RDQ team this role is to conduct experiments and trials under guidance of more senior team members, and to oversee the experimental workspace adhering to all food safety and quality policies.
Duties are to perform sample preparation and processes using lab equipment and small scale food production kits under the supervision of senior staff members, ensure effective organisation of workload, the integrity of data generated and the timely and accurate reporting of results, prepare, operate and maintain the equipment and ingredients for the efficient and effective operations of the experimental workspace while working to the high standards of safety and quality to ensure the food safety and quality policies are adhered to including risk assessments, SOPS, HACCP and good manufacturing processes.
Candidates will be able to work independently and with a team, attention to detail, apply technical understanding of equipment and ingredients to support bench scale operations, manipulate data, interest in knowledge of food flavour chemistry and other aspects of food research, previous experience in a food/research/ environment of knowledge of food flavour chemistry would be a distinct advantage.
Educated or equivalent in Food Science, Chemistry or similar.
